If you have ever been in charge of hosting Thanksgiving day festivities, then you know how much time, work, and stress is involved in planning and pulling off that day, from coming up with Thanksgiving dinner ideas, to shopping, to food preparation, to getting the house ready, and so on and so forth. It’s enough to take the true meaning of “holiday” right out of the Turkey Day holiday! I’ve been in that position far too many times and vowed finally a year ago to do something about it.

My latest article covers simple yet effective Thanksgiving dinner ideas to help you make and present an outstanding, satisfying, and memorable meal but still have time to put your feet up and soak in all the holiday splendor at a relaxing pace with family and friends, the way a holiday should be!

In addition, the thing about being the one preparing the Thanksgiving Day feast is that you end up taste testing each dish for the proper taste and seasoning, so you feel like you’re smelling and eating all day before you actually sit down to eat! In fact, at that point, the very idea Thanksgiving dinner can sometimes be a turn-off since the preparation work all but consumed you on so many levels during the day.

I spend Thanksgiving with my husband’s family. We try to make it more of a pot luck type of affair. Everybody brings something, but that still leaves a lot of work. So I went in search of ways to make the holiday easier when the time comes for me to host the big day. What I was looking for was easy Thanksgiving recipes and do-ahead recipes. This is not to say the dishes would not be every bit as tasty. The goal was to give me more time to spend with my family on Thanksgiving, rather than stuck in the kitchen with a hot oven. Thanksgiving Day is the traditional American holiday on which we give thanks for the many blessings we enjoy. It’s also the day that many women get up at the crack of dawn to spend the day preparing this feast. Speaking from experience, by the time Mom sits down at the dinner table, she’s exhausted, thankful to be sitting down! All of this effort is not without its rewards, as the family enjoys the food and regales Mom with compliments.
