Follow the east central Iowa restaurant trail
February 27th, 2008A group of restaurant owners are following the lead of some wineries in the area and instead of having a wine trail they are having a restaurant trail. They plan on harvesting more of the east central Iowa tourism dollar than in previous years. There restaurants are all within an hours drive of the Quad Cities and have varied menus. At any one of these establishments you can pick up a map and a punch card. The map shows where each eatery is located and they are color coded as what kind of fare they serve. As you would expect the restaurants along the river all serve seafood although some of them are also listed as a good place to get a steak. The more upscale sites are in the uptown areas although some of them also have fish on the menu. A trail runner takes his punch card to the place he has chosen to eat and gets it marked for that establishment. After having visited all the places on the map and gotten a stamp from each one the card can be redeemed for a night’s stay in one of the listed motels – all of which contain a fine restaurant.
