Minnesota foods

February 4th, 2008

Different areas of the country have different food specialties and it is fun to sample as many as you can. I do a fair amount of Minnesota travel and as so have become accustomed to Norwegian foods. I guess each region of the country brings their heritage foods with them. Just as the food from the deep south comes from French. The foods from the northeast seem to be Viking food. As a whole we tend to go with what we are used to and not try different foods. That is a shame as there is such a wide variety of good foods out there to be consumed. I like to grab a cookbook that has Italian food in it and spend a week cooking Italian. Maybe the next week I will grab a Greek cookbook and cook Greek for a week. This way I have a wide variety of tastes to enjoy and it is actually quite healthy as there are a wide variety of types of food I consume. Some types cook with more vegetables, some with more meat, and some with more bread and pastas. By changing types I get a little of everything, maybe not daily, but at least I get them weekly.
