Wine Gift Baskets

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Most wine gift baskets more often than not contain certain food items, which are thought to be the best accompaniment for the wine or wines included in it. However, certain food items which are present regardless of the kind of wine are the various kinds of cheese, nuts and chocolates. There are certain kinds of breads and meats which can also be included in the gift baskets. Pates are also common in food and wine gift baskets. Depending on the wine and the price of the basket, the amount and quality of the food items included, varies.

Variety of Wine Gift Baskets

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

There is a great variety of wine gift baskets available and they are very popular for givers and as the receiver, they usually contain one ore two bottles of wine, red, white, rose and/or port. Often they are accompanied by crackers, cheese, chocolate or other foods. Usually the wines are paired with a food that tastes good with it for example red wine is a good combination with chocolate and with a white wine like Chardonnay some crackers and cheese are just right.

Val de Loire

Monday, May 12th, 2008

The Loire Valley, or Val de Loire
, is a large wine producing region in France that ranges from nearly the center of the country, west of Burgundy, all the way to the west coast. It is a vast area encompassing many different appellations which produce all types of wines, from light-bodied whites to full-bodied reds. For some reason, besides a few notable producers this region has remained relatively invisible to the great majority of the wine world. While well versed wine enthusiasts know and love the Loire well, your average wine drinker in the United States knows little of the region.

Wine Investment

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Wine Investment
is not at the top of investors’ minds. For some investors, it may be at the back of their minds to keep a few bottles in case the prices appreciate, but no one is explicitly buying wines as an investment. It’s very much by chance to those who discover that their wine collection is worth a lot more over time. The lack of interest in wines as an investment could be due to the fact that investors are still at the appreciation stage and don’t view wines as a commodity.

One way that you can have fine wine delivered to your door is by joining what’s known as a “Wine of the Month Club” or simply a “Wine Club”. There are wine clubs that will deliver fine wines right to your door on a regular basis, such as monthly, quarterly, etc. The prices between these different wine clubs
will vary. So if you happen to be a wine enthusiast or simply would like a good supply of fine wine for the holidays on hand, a wine club might just be the answer that you’re looking for.

Fine Wines

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Fine wines are generally classified according to its given mode of production and area. For instance, most of the fine wines
are typified as German made. In order for a wine to be classified as fine, there must be some balance in all of its parts. This means that no part of the wine, such as its flavor or color, should be a cut above the rest. Fine wines should always make an impression.

The Languedoc Roussillon region just south of Toulouse in Southern France is an area of outstanding beauty and interest with a wealth of places to visit and enjoy including Carcassonne, Perpignan and Montpellier the capital. Ideal for a holiday in the South of France.

Le Moulin sits just outside the little village of Issel which is about halfway between Castelnaudary and Revel and has easy access to the Mediterranean coast and the Pyrenean mountain range. Apple Cider Vinegar Each Day Keeps the Doctor Away!

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

acid reflux? Nausea or other stomach ailments? Apple Cider Vinegar! Your stomach needs the acid to digest food. And in fact, when you experience heartburn or acid reflux, it’s not excess acid that’s the problem; it’s a lack of acid. By taking Apple Cider Vinegar, you are mimicking the PH level of acid in your stomach, which helps you digest the food properly rather than suppressing the acid and temporarily treating the burn. Acid reflux and nausea can be instantly stopped with a quick swig of Apple Cider Vinegar, commonly called ACV. The most important thing about ACV is getting the right kind. Don’t just grab it off the shelf at the grocery store, because that ACV has been treated and pasteurized and is missing the most powerful part. The best ACV is natural vinegar from the health food store, which still contains the “mother”. Either method can be combined with honey if preferred. For a hot drink which will mix the honey even better, use hot water, honey and a teaspoon or so of ACV, and sip it like a tea or hot cider.

Food And Wine Goes Together

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

The process of pairing food and wine isn’t as complex as some may believe. Don’t think that you have to be a vineyard snob to appreciate a great glass that offers the right bouquet and texture for your meal. When it comes to food and wine, the only real rule is that you consider what you truly like.

Relax At Christmas With Good Wine and food

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

Don’t know which Chardonnays have fruity undertones? Don’t fret. You can find out just by looking at the descriptions on the bottle. You can also bet that a Chardonnay from Oregon will have a crisp hint of apple in its flavor. You can make nice food and wine pairings that work with the undertones in the drink. Considering this, you don’t necessarily have to subject yourself to the food and wine rule: reds with red meats, whites with fish and poultry. If you prefer red wine even though you are having fish, then choose red. There are plenty of nice options to consider that have lighter, fruity undertones.
