Recently, someone challenged the researchers at East West Editorial to research and find the 10 healthiest foods. While there are literally thousands of foods from which to choose, the effort ultimately focused on produce - which is ultra-rich in nutrients and cancer-fighting antioxidants - and perhaps the most neglected item on everyone’s menus.
You can review the 10 healthiest foods list at the East West blog (we’ll give two of them away here: berries and bananas) and see if you don’t agree that larger portions of these fruits and veggies shouldn’t play a starring role at your table. A companion article on how to lower your cholesterol may be helpful as well.
East West Editorial is a leading blog that tracks and reports on information for today’s consumer lifestyles.

Recently, someone challenged me to name the 10 healthiest foods. I found the query intriguing – there are literally thousands of foods from which to choose!
After pondering this question, it occurred to me that most Americans get more than their fair share of meat and dairy products and therefore need no urging to include these foods in their diets.
We all know that excessive amounts of fat, sugar and processed foods aren’t good for us.
That narrows the field of candidates for inclusion in this list of the 10 healthiest foods we should be consuming. You’ve guessed it by now, right?

Fruits and vegetables help in weight loss because they are low in fat and calorie. They are really high in fiber, vitamins and minerals. They help to eliminate wastes quickly and help in reducing the carving for sweets. They keep the energy level at the appropriate level so you don’t become too tired and hungry. Because of the richness in vitamins and enzymes that satisfy the body’s nutrient requirements with less food. Freshly made juices are a tremendous source of bio-available vitamins and minerals which are the partners of enzymes and co-enzymes.
By drinking fresh juice, body absorbs more of the vitamins and minerals than if you eat the fruit in a whole. Many of the nutrients stay trapped in the fiber but after grinding it release the nutrients.

Nutritionist and fitness model Kardena Pouza propagates a vegan diet plan in “Easy Veggie Meal Plans” that provides lots of information on the vegetarian lifestyle.
In order to lose one pound, you need to burn 3500 calories more than you consume. Carbohydrates have 4 calories per gram, as do proteins, but fats have 9 calories per gram. Fresh vegetables and fruits are great sources of low carb foods.
When following any vegan diet plan for weight loss, you need non-meat substitutes for lean proteins. You must ensure that you consume only healthy fats, which can be found in raw nuts, seeds, and certain oils, and other foods. Almonds, Walnuts, Tofu, and Soybeans offer great non-meat source of protein. They are also high in fiber and filled with vitamins and nutrients that are great for your body.

In today’s fast paced life, we don’t focus on our meals, often resulting on grabbing the quickest bite – which mostly isn’t the healthiest.
Easy Veggie Meal Plans offers healthy vegan menu options for everyone. The Plan helps you shed pounds by planning the perfect vegetarian menu for lowering cholesterol levels, cut cancer rates in some cases, increase energy levels, decrease the chances of diabetes, and also decrease the possibilities of heart disease. Vegetarians who eat too many carbs and fats may become overweight.
An idea for a simple yet healthy meal is to create a healthy salad tossing using your favorite raw vegetables with a few nuts, tofu, or beans with olive or some other healthy oil-based dressing. Another idea is to mix some of your favorite vegetables, such as tomatoes, carrots, spinach, onions, peppers, and celery in a blender and add spices to create a healthy and naturally flavorful soup.

The healthy colon is the key to whole body health. When the colon is fouled up and holding on to food which is stagnant the body may get by but at great cost. Those who have experienced the joy of the colon cleanse effect speak to power of the healthy cleansed colon.
However most of us while we want a cleansed colon with the healthy bacteria working on our food digestion are looking for safe methods to do this and home made colon cleansing diets give us this sense of safety .
Brown rice and whole grain at the sprouting stage are the best and safest foods to cleanse the colon while the grains in breakfast foods are overly processed and while helpful have the limitations. A problem with any grain food is its slower digestive nature and so should be used in moderation.
Traditional meats such as chicken, beef and fish are currently popular in the high protein diet approach and are alright in moderation again however they are slow to digest. The key is natural foods in moderation and in a good mix. However there is another natural product which is becoming extremely popular and is promoted by Oprah and Dr Oz and that is the miraculous Acai Berry. For more

Frittatas, the Italian version of an omelet in a crust, are another excellent resource of vegetable casserole recipes. Somewhat like a quiche, you can make this in your trusty 9 x 12 baking dish or a deep dish pie. You can use a ready made pie crust from the supermarket as the liner. Dice up a selection of your favorite veggies. Beat six eggs well. Layer your veggies in the same manner, pouring a bit of the beaten egg mixture over each layer. Include cheese and Italian seasoning to your liking. When your baking dish is full, top it off with cheese and bake for just 15 minutes at 375 degrees. This makes a heavenly vegetable casserole recipe that’s as delicious as it is nutritious.
Another way to make appetizing Vegetable Casserole Recipes is to research Indian recipe books. In India, many people never eat meat, due either to a lack of money for meat or for religious preference. The Indian cook has perfected the use of fragrant herb and spice mixtures to flavor the dish with a gourmet quality taste. You’ll be amazed to find that meat is not necessarily required to produce a dish that is healthy and a delight to the palate.

When it is time to choose healthy ingredients, raw foods are believed to be the right choice, but you could be surprised to learn that eating a diet rich in raw foods is not as simple as going to the food store and choose some fruits and vegetables.Â
You can buy organic raw foods if you want to avoid ingesting unwanted additives such as preservatives or pesticides.Â
Growing your own is an alternative to buying organic fruits and vegetables. A lot of families have grown and eaten their own raw foods for many years. This is not just an inexpensive way to eat healthy but it also gives you the opportunity to get out in the summer sun and do some gardening. Visualise how rewarding it must be when you pick your own carrots or tomatoes. This is in fact what raw foods are all about; completely fresh and free of any additives.Â

You will surely end up paying the price of developing high cholesterol if you cannot resist the temptation to eat foods that are filled with grease.Â
Most high cholesterol foods are rich in saturated fats and cholesterol and this is bad news for you because it will cause your bad (LDL) cholesterol to rise and that in turn could lead to different types of heart diseases, and even lead to a stroke.Â
Rather than blindly eating high cholesterol foods, you should opt for foods that are labelled as being free from cholesterol. Though such foods won’t have any big effect on cholesterol levels, they will at least not contain saturated fats that are the main culprit behind cholesterol problems.Â
