When the food budget gets tight, it’s tuna recipes to the rescue

Saturday, August 1st, 2009

Let’s start with some gourmet tuna recipes for sandwiches. For a quick family-sized lunch or dinner dish, start with a loaf of fresh French bread, sliced lengthwise. Brush with melted butter, or olive oil and minced garlic. Finely dice one large tomato and one small red onion, then distribute the mixture over the bottom half of the bread. Broil lightly, then set aside while you prepare the tuna. Flake the tuna into a medium bowl. Snip fresh parsley leaves and add. Add one can of drained, sliced black olives to the bowl. Add just enough mayonnaise to moisten the mixture. Cut the bread into sandwich sized portions, pile the tuna on the bottom half, topped with shaved Parmesan. Broil the bottom half just until the cheese melts. Pull them out of the broiler, top with the upper halves of the bread and serve.

Food costs – Don’t stress!

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Where do you like to dine? For many Americans, dining out is a daily routine. Now, the question is; where do you dine out? Are we talking burger joints and drive-thrus? Well, the food costs may be low at these “fine establishments,” however the health risks are hardly worth the savings. In reality it is much wiser to dine at home. This way you can prepare healthy meals for you and your family. Not to mention the food costs are considerably different than those found in most restaurants. Just think about how much you actually fork out weekly for food. It might make you cringe and do some serious adjusting.

I believe the standard allure to eating out concerns the work aspect. There basically isn’t any involved. Unless you consider the money you worked hard for, because as many of us know, a dinner at an upper-scale restaurant can cost some bucks. Food costs aside, it is rather relaxing to enjoy someone else’s cooking for a change. There are no dirty dishes to clean, and always a great selection of entrees to choose from. I have to admit, I enjoy dining out as much as the next guy, but these days I try to consider the health factor of it all.

Whether we’d like to believe it or not, dining out is typically not the healthiest of options at hand. Fortunately we can purchase all the necessities from our local supermarkets. Virtually anything you need to prepare a great feast can be found, and for a reasonable price if you do some browsing. For example, get the store brand over the name brand and you will probably save some dough in the process.

Do you have any idea what you spend on groceries each week? Are you always figuring the food costs into your budget? This is where we were always going wrong. We used to spend way too much money on groceries. It wasn’t about eating out, but about getting quick, and already prepared meals each night. This will jack up your weekly food costs by a ton. Fortunately we’ve moved past the lazy approach, and have adopted the smart and less expensive one. Purchasing the right food items and preparing your own meals is the best way to reduce your family’s food costs, and to reduce the financial stress.

Look at the TeslaWAV unit. It can help you save on stress so when you eat out, the sticker shock won’t kill you!

Freshly Ground Coffee Beans

Friday, August 8th, 2008

I love coffee and I am quite picky about how it tastes. Once I discovered the taste of freshly ground coffee beans, it was hard for me to think of using anything else. Though it takes me a little longer to get my coffee going in the morning, the results are worth it.

Most already ground coffee is just fine, but there is just something wonderful about grinding your own coffee beans, loading up the machine, and tasting the amazing taste of the resulting fresh cup of coffee.

I drink several cups every day and have a kitchen which is fully stocked with various flavors of caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee. I consider myself to be more of a coffee addict than an aficionado and because all I care about is whether or not it tastes good.

Happy Meal can start early in life

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

I don’t know what happened but it happened very early in my daughter’s life. She was barely speaking when we drove by a McDonald’s and she uttered the words French fries. Though I know she may have had a happy meal or two, I wasn’t sure why she was so familiar with the golden arches. Essentially, McDonald’s foods taste very good. This doesn’t mean that I want her to eat there all the time though. I had to find out why she was so familiar with that particular restaurant….

Gourmet restaurans are galore in Portland

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

I always did love gourmet food. My mother was a brilliant cook which I enjoyed while I was growing up. She would cook every single night, and almost always make something different. I really don’t know where she got so many different recipe ideas from. All of them seemed perfected, and yet she very rarely repeated any of them. The only recipes that she would cook more than once were the ones that we really liked. If people asked for them, then she would cook them again. There is nothing quite like her cooking. The only thing that even comes close is going to a gourmet restaurant….

Restaurant Guides

Friday, June 13th, 2008

It is possible for people to make health food choices if they only have a short time in which to prepare their meals. The first thing to realize is that it is often the case that healthy choices do not always mean a need for two-hour meals. A person can choose healthy foods that are quick and easy to prepare at home or to pickup from a takeout place. Cities often provide restaurant guides in their telephone books that display full-page menus indicating what a particular restaurant or drive-thru offers. Many of these food vendors now include healthy alternatives to their usual fast-food selection.

Gourmets will do a lot to eat in any of these residences & often you can be obliged to book somewhere beforehand to get a place, or maybe to be content to settle at their bars for a small number of glasses of wine until a space is available. This immaculate & ritzy venue delivers a few of the finest Dim Sum that you’ll ever try, a magnificent selection of aromatic tea and superb cocktails. If you adore Dim Sum, then this must be one of the chief venues to dine in.

Also, Nobu is a fresh & new Japanese restaurant. This restaurant is their initial U.K. venture & it’s done admirably. Nobu’s nosh is unbelievable and even if the courses are, from time to time, inconsiderable, this place should not be any trouble, because you will surely get various portions – relish the great standards over the the size. In the main, this place delivers beautiful meals, has cheerful waiters & a first class delivery. See the differant choices of London restaurants with Time Out magazine

The Electric Birdcage venue, found in St James Str. is a venue in which one’s thoughts can run truly wild. In this new restaurant their menus are made up of modern day Asian fare and has been declared as a must visit – it’s drinks are similarly tremendous and it’s speciality drinks ought to be tasted by aficionados. London presents large numbers of dear, celebrated places to eat, still, don’t forget it similarly offers you heaps of cheap restaurants, and some of these places are said to be our city’s humble and invisible jewels.

Our capital, as is well known, is currently an instance of one of the best towns on earth – but for all that, it is sometimes costly. If you are looking for outstanding, uncostly menus then you’re also in an excellent location to buy it, providing you’re looking in the right location. The city comes with all sorts of amazing opportunities – pizzerias, bargain Italian cafes & tonnes of vegan cafes. The Gourmet Burger Kitchen’s a great burger house influenced by legions of first rate burger joints found in Britain. There’s any type of burger thinkable, which implies there is burgers for every one of us. GBK is very inexpensive, & the measures are similarly extensive, there is certainly no necessity for getting additional dishes in this spot. The Masala Zone is a leading bunch of contemporary Indian restaurants. These venues are decently priced and serve Indian Street goodies, great for when you need to sup, however folk’s engagement cannot linger for too long, or even be great for periods when you are out with a clutch of workmates and you’re after for a restaurant with phenomenal food & the scene to match it.

Organic Buffet

Friday, April 18th, 2008

A new type of all you can eat buffet has emerged in the last decade, and it’s not the desert bar. The organic buffet is becoming a popular place for health minded people to gather for food, and company. Many top health food grocers like Whole Foods, and Earth Fare, are testing out the concept to warm results. It seems that the mix of fresh organic foods in a casual setting has hit a chord with customers. Many customers seem to not only enjoy the organic buffet
on occasion, but rather weekly, or even daily.

Belgium has more than hundred breweries collectively producing about 500 different sorts of beers which in breadth almost rival the wines in France. Most of them with specially shaped beer glasses in which only this kind of beer may be served. The shape of each glass is specially designed for a particular beer in order to emphasize its flavor and character. The choices of flavor are endless, from raspberry to chocolate to peach and cherry. The diversity of styles is huge, from blonde ale to lambic to Trappist and abbey. The most interesting kind of beer, which can not be found anywhere else in world, is Trappist beer. Six Trappist abbeys, which were established by Trappist monks who left France after the turbulence of the Napoleonic period, produce rich dark ales according to centuries-old methods. Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

On the roof of a beautiful Peninsula Hotel, the Pen-Top Bar is a fantastic place for drinks and snacks all year round. In a warm night you can sit outside on a terrace, in the winter you can stay inside but still enjoy breathtaking view of Central park, Fifth Avenue and have a close look at the crowns and windows of famous New York buildings which are surrounding this precious fascinating spot in the middle of Manhattan.
