Wine Of The Month Club

Friday, November 10th, 2006

I have, for the most part enjoyed my entire wine of the month club experience. I have managed to get more benefit out of a California wine of the month club than I did out of the international one which I initially joined. You see, the wine of the month club gave us wine from all over the world, which was definitely a good thing, but there was a down side to it.

Fast Food Trends and Social Consciousness

Sunday, October 1st, 2006

Anyone aware of the potential dangers of fast food are seeing some food trends in the public arena. In the United States, for example, more state legislatures are taking action in banning soft drink and candy vending machines from public schools. Hit movies such as Super Size Me are also creating a change in food consciousness in the States.

Fast food restaurants are not the only source of “fast food.” Because most people are extremely busy with work and driving kids around, it is tempting to pop a packaged meal into the microwave at the end of a long day.

Beef Jerky Is Delicious And Healthy

Friday, September 15th, 2006

Beef jerky is again rising in popularity due to the low carb fad that has hit the nation. One of the main reasons that beef jerky is healthy is the fact that to make the jerky last for so long the fat needs to be trimmed or the beef will go bad unless a lot of salt and preservatives are added. As a result, the best beef jerky typically has less than 3% fat content.

If you are looking for a healthy, tasty and convenient snack to take anywhere, this is it. It is especially great for camping as it is compact, provides needed nutrients, tastes great, and does not become stale.

Vegetable Oils For Healthier Life

Friday, September 8th, 2006

Each of these have been determined to be safer than vegetable oils. Of course, this may change again in a few years. It seems the experts cannot make up their minds. For a while, margarine was considered a healthy substitute for real butter. Today, they say the opposite is true. Technologies are getting more and more advanced and no one can say for sure what will happen in the future. Perhaps they will come to conclusion that steaks are healthier then vegetables. I would sure like that and I bet you would too.

A Quick Review of Coffee Clubs

Saturday, August 19th, 2006

You are familiar with that feeling. You wake up one morning only to discover that you’ve run out of coffee. Close to panicking, you blame your spouse or roommate the same time you leaf through the yellow pages for the nearest espresso drive-thru so you can go there while still in your pajamas!

Bottled Drinking Water

Saturday, August 12th, 2006

Do you drink bottled drinking water? Here are some things that you should know.  I have never, until forced to recently, invested in the scam of bottled drinking water. I believed that recycling the water we think we can’t drink, putting it in plastic bottles (more waste), and making us PAY for it, on top of our already paying for water in many cities and townships, is yet another way to fool us out of our hard-earned money. I drank tap water at hundreds of different homes throughout Northern California. In my own homes, I took it straight from the tap, cooked with it, brushed my teeth with it and showered in it, and made Jello and ice cubes with it. And nothing ever happened.

There is a slew of discussions about contaminants in tap water. Okay, so high levels of bacteria are found in a select city, bacteria that slips through the elaborate filtering systems and impactsâ€â€?in one case, for exampleâ€â€?400,000 residents. But there is also the bottled drinking water company that is found to have just bottled tap water after filtering it and then calling it fresh-from-the-mountaintop bottled drinking water. My logic (again, up until two months ago) went something like this… read on.

Flavored Coffee – General Foods

Saturday, August 12th, 2006

I think the first time I drank coffee was General Foods Coffee.  Welcome to the era of flavored coffee. Did you ever think back when you were a little kid that the old coffee pots would practically be replaced by lattes and cappuccinos? Okay, this would obviously depend on how old you are. Being a 90s generation guy myself, I certainly saw the explosion of flavored coffee and Starbucks. How could anyone miss it? In fact, I never even tried a coffee drink until they became all the rage. I grew up watching my parents gulp down drip coffee every morning. That did not look desirable to me. However, these days coffee has definitely taken many new turns. With coffee houses galore on every street corner, you have quite the selection of caffeinated beverages to choose from.

Do you drink flavored coffee? Now this can be interpreted in different ways. If you are java savvy, like most people are these days, then you probably know about the various syrups you can add to your latte or cappuccino. However, you can also purchase flavored coffee beans. This way, if you have an espresso machine in your home, you can simply dump some flavored coffee beans in the grinder and indulge in the java of your choice. My wife can’t get enough of the flavored coffee craze. She loves all those crazy flavors such as; brown sugar brule, Boston cream pie, and German chocolate. These actually seem to be more popular today than good old-fashioned espresso blend.

The Rise Of The Coffee Company

Saturday, July 29th, 2006

Who doesn’t enjoy a hot cup of coffee? Some prefer even a nice iced latte with a dollop of whip cream on top. But anyway, whatever you prefer, you’ll have no trouble finding it in the gargantuan java industry of today. The demand for espresso really did shoot through the roof, and the “coffee company has definitely made it’s mark in this universe. Like most of us, I bet you’re not complaining one bit. Maybe unless it’s regarding the price … One thing however is for certain, the widespread coffee buzz isn’t going to vanish soon. Smell those fresh beans already?
