The Chocolate Fantasy

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

Chocolate is produced from the beans of the cacao tree, which originated in South America, and now grows in Africa, the West Indies, the tropical parts of America, and the Far West. Used as the main ingredient in numerous recipes, chocolate constitutes one of the most loved materials known in today’s food world. Children and adults both appreciate chocolate’s unique aroma, taste, color and texture and prefer it in comparison to other foods.

The cacao beans, from which chocolate is produced, are large pods -once harvested, both the pulp from the pods and the bean are allowed to ferment in the sun. The pulp evaporates and the bean develops its chocolaty flavor. Later, the outer skin is removed and the beans are left in the sun for a little longer or roasted. Finally they are shelled and the kennels are used for making cocoa and chocolate.

I Eat What I Feel

Sunday, October 8th, 2006

Have you ever felt the overwhelming need while sitting in front of the television screen in your favorite comfy clothes watching one more sitcom to get up and go to the kitchen in order to eat something more, although you have finished your dinner less than an hour ago? While many agree that the fridge hides a lot of delights that can ruin your appetite, today’s consumers do not believe that chewing something before or after a well-served meal is a totally weird practice. Maybe the food quantity someone consumed was not enough to make him or her feel satisfied and full, even when no weight loss program is followed. Or maybe, one hates to throw away food and in an effort to find a good place to put that last piece of apple pie that was left untouched and should not be thrown out, he consumes it. But, why you select to eat the specific types of food that you do? For dieticians and social researchers the true cause of compulsive eating is your psychological state. People tend to eat what they feel.

The Historic Roots of Pizza

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

Pizza is an oven-baked flat usually circular bread, covered with tomato sauce and cheese with optional toppings. All the basic ingredients of a healthy nutritional plan are used in this world-famous culinary product. From dining out to ordering in, pizza has evolved to one of the most loved food categories in the U.S. and around the globe.

The roots of modern pizza come from the ancient Greek colony of Naples in Magna Graecia, which is the part of southern Italy. As early as the 3rd century BC, Marcus Porcius Cato, the first historian of Rome, mentions that people in that area used to eat a flat round dough dressed with olive oil, herbs, cheese and honey. Even in the city of Pompeii, archaeologists have excavated shops that resemble modern pizzerias. Since the tomato was not yet known in Europe, the ingredients of the ancient pizza were somewhat different, but the concept remained the same.

Beef Jerky Is Delicious And Healthy

Friday, September 15th, 2006

Beef jerky is again rising in popularity due to the low carb fad that has hit the nation. One of the main reasons that beef jerky is healthy is the fact that to make the jerky last for so long the fat needs to be trimmed or the beef will go bad unless a lot of salt and preservatives are added. As a result, the best beef jerky typically has less than 3% fat content.

If you are looking for a healthy, tasty and convenient snack to take anywhere, this is it. It is especially great for camping as it is compact, provides needed nutrients, tastes great, and does not become stale.

An Article About Cheese Pizza

Most of us are, if not pizza connoisseurs in our own right, pizza lovers.  It is (at least in this country, US) one of the top ten foods of choice.
