How many times have you had fast food this week or this month. Come on and be honest with yourself. The more fast food you eat then the less good food you’re putting in your body. You need good healthy eating plans to keep you body filled with the nutrients and vitamins it needs to function correctly. You will be in bad shape if you keep shoving that fast food into your mouth. You need to avoid the preservatives and additives found in the bad food that is harmful to your body over the long term. Good healthy eating plans thrive on nutrients (water, vitamins and minerals) that are found in meats, fruits and vegetables. They don’t have a lot of the bad sugars, salts, fats and cholesterol.

Fast food is one of the worst things to consume if you’re trying to control or lose weight. The only problem is that many people are constantly on the go and will end getting fast food so they can eat something. You can even find low carbohydrate fast food.

Have you read the paper lately or watched the TV news programs? If so I’m sure you’re aware that the studies show that chemicals in our food and our environment are making us sick and in some cases killing people.
This has been a problem for years. Why aren’t we all eating organically grown foods and dumping the fast food and frozen pizza down the drain.
The problem is that organic food can be so much more expensive and home cooking takes a fair amount of time.   But as we age many people are wanting to have better health in their old age. One of the things that will make this happen is the for mentioned “eating organic foods� and also eliminating all chemicals from your diet.  This may seem extreme. But lets look at the recent guest on the Dr Phil show who talks about the sores on her body that are extruding some type of fibers and it turns out  that there are at least 1000 people so far in the US suffering from this same “unknown� disease. The fact is baby boomers are the first generation of chemical laden children (children fed on foods packed with chemicals and preservatives) to grow old. Maybe it’s time to get into Organics!

I don’t know what happened but it happened very early in my daughter’s life. She was barely speaking when we drove by a McDonald’s and she uttered the words French fries. Though I know she may have had a happy meal or two, I wasn’t sure why she was so familiar with the golden arches. Essentially, McDonald’s foods taste very good. This doesn’t mean that I want her to eat there all the time though. I had to find out why she was so familiar with that particular restaurant….

I always did love gourmet food. My mother was a brilliant cook which I enjoyed while I was growing up. She would cook every single night, and almost always make something different. I really don’t know where she got so many different recipe ideas from. All of them seemed perfected, and yet she very rarely repeated any of them. The only recipes that she would cook more than once were the ones that we really liked. If people asked for them, then she would cook them again. There is nothing quite like her cooking. The only thing that even comes close is going to a gourmet restaurant….

It is possible for people to make health food choices if they only have a short time in which to prepare their meals. The first thing to realize is that it is often the case that healthy choices do not always mean a need for two-hour meals. A person can choose healthy foods that are quick and easy to prepare at home or to pickup from a takeout place. Cities often provide restaurant guides in their telephone books that display full-page menus indicating what a particular restaurant or drive-thru offers. Many of these food vendors now include healthy alternatives to their usual fast-food selection.

What would you consider to be unhealthy or junk food? Most people pinpoint fast food restaurants and sweets as the first choice. At this point, I think it’s pretty obvious what falls into the junk food category and what does not. Treats like chips, movie theater concessions, candy, chocolate, soft drinks, cakes, pies, and pizza are all clearly foods that do nothing great for your body or health. However, we all already know this. But it definitely doesn’t stop us from purchasing these foods on a routine basis. I even know of health nuts who eat poorly on occasion. Hey, we all love some tasty junk food. Therefore we’ll all look for ways to eat it sometimes, whether we typically stick to a well-balanced diet or not. Believe it or not when it comes down to it, much of the convenient foods that are bad for you, are also convenient and often less pricey than the healthy foods.

Canning salsa recipes must be done properly to avoid any health risk.

Twenty-five years ago weight-loss camp campers were mostly teenage girls who were at least 100 pounds or more overweight. The menu usually consisted of food such as beef liver, fish and alfalfa sprouts and the only form of exercise was running and doing sit-ups. The ultimate goal at these overnight summer camps is to lose as much weight as possible in as little time as possible. They were often considered special needs camps. There are also many teen and adult weight loss camps.

2 cups Japanese sushi rice
6 tbl. rice wine vinegar
6 sheets Nori (dry seaweed)
1 avocado – peeled, pitted and sliced
1 cucumber, peeled and sliced
8 ounces smoked salmon, cut into long strips
2 tbl. Wasabi paste
Procedures:
Soak rice for 4 hours. Drain rice and cook in a rice cooker with 2 cupsof water. Rice must be slightly dry as vinegar will be added later. Immediately after rice is cooked, mix in 6 tablespoons rice vinegar to the hot rice. Spread rice on a plate until completely cool.
Place 1 sheet of seaweed on bamboo mat, press a thin layer of cool rice on the seaweed. Leave at least 1/2 inch top and bottom edge of the seaweed uncovered. This is for easier sealing later. Dot some Wasabi on the rice. Arrange cucumber, avocado and smoked salmon to the rice.
Position them about 1 inch away from the bottom edge of the seaweed. Slightly wet the top edge of the seaweed. Roll from bottom to the top edge with the help of the bamboo mat tightly. Cut roll into 8 equal pieces and serve. Repeat for other rolls.

One of the best parts of reading anything about Iowa tourism is that Iowans love their food and more often than not incorporate that into the event. Take the Iowa State fair for example. The center of the fair revolves around the raising of food from the beef, pork and sheep to the tomatoes, beets, and turnips. And one of the things that the locals know very well – you can get more different foods on a stick here than anywhere else in the world. You can find all the normal things such as a deep fried corn dog, but you can get some exotic things as well such as a deep fried dill pickle on a stick. Two years ago one vender came up with the idea of selling a chili dog on a stick. He incorporated the chili into the breading surrounding the dog and deep fried the whole thing. Another vender was selling deep fried Snickers on a stick that went over quite well with the younger crowd. There was the all Iowa pork chop on a stick that was developed specifically to be marketed at the fair. Of course we can’t for get the meat balls on a stick. That was one of the few things that didn’t have to be deep fat fried!

Some common food colorings and preservatives can increase hyperactivity in children, British researchers have found.
This link between has long been suspected, but, unbelievably,
this is the first study to show a direct connection. Many parents have
known this for years but till now nobody has listened.
The findings have already caused the British government’s Food
Standards Agency, which funded the study, to issue a warning to parents
about food additives. These warning may be difficult to put into
practice.
