I don’t know what happened but it happened very early in my daughter’s life. She was barely speaking when we drove by a McDonald’s and she uttered the words French fries. Though I know she may have had a happy meal or two, I wasn’t sure why she was so familiar with the golden arches. Essentially, McDonald’s foods taste very good. This doesn’t mean that I want her to eat there all the time though. I had to find out why she was so familiar with that particular restaurant….

Starting a fast food business, especially your first one can be extremely daunting as there is so much to learn before you can start trading. But if you get it right you could be laughing all the way to the bank. People will always need to eat and with the pace of life picking up, and the projected growth in population forecast for the UK over the next decade, there has never been a better time to start. There is definitely an opportunity for an independent fast food retailer to grab a slice of the profits as many people are fed up of the traditional fast food franchises.

I always did love gourmet food. My mother was a brilliant cook which I enjoyed while I was growing up. She would cook every single night, and almost always make something different. I really don’t know where she got so many different recipe ideas from. All of them seemed perfected, and yet she very rarely repeated any of them. The only recipes that she would cook more than once were the ones that we really liked. If people asked for them, then she would cook them again. There is nothing quite like her cooking. The only thing that even comes close is going to a gourmet restaurant….

It is possible for people to make health food choices if they only have a short time in which to prepare their meals. The first thing to realize is that it is often the case that healthy choices do not always mean a need for two-hour meals. A person can choose healthy foods that are quick and easy to prepare at home or to pickup from a takeout place. Cities often provide restaurant guides in their telephone books that display full-page menus indicating what a particular restaurant or drive-thru offers. Many of these food vendors now include healthy alternatives to their usual fast-food selection.

What would you consider to be unhealthy or junk food? Most people pinpoint fast food restaurants and sweets as the first choice. At this point, I think it’s pretty obvious what falls into the junk food category and what does not. Treats like chips, movie theater concessions, candy, chocolate, soft drinks, cakes, pies, and pizza are all clearly foods that do nothing great for your body or health. However, we all already know this. But it definitely doesn’t stop us from purchasing these foods on a routine basis. I even know of health nuts who eat poorly on occasion. Hey, we all love some tasty junk food. Therefore we’ll all look for ways to eat it sometimes, whether we typically stick to a well-balanced diet or not. Believe it or not when it comes down to it, much of the convenient foods that are bad for you, are also convenient and often less pricey than the healthy foods.

There are dozens of fast food chains in every part of the world, making it quite difficult for anyone to have a strict diet. Who would want a salad when they could easily have a large fry and an entire pizza? Unfortunately, the foods that taste the best are often the worst for your body. While we usually ignore this important fact, it is crucial that we at least try to consume nutritional food four days out of the week.

Canning salsa recipes must be done properly to avoid any health risk.
Since most salsa recipes contain a mixture of low-acid foods, such as onions and chiles, an acid such as lemon juice or vinegar must be added to prevent the growth of bacteria. Special care must be taken when to ensure that they contain enough acid to be processed safely in a boiling water canner.

Twenty-five years ago weight-loss camp campers were mostly teenage girls who were at least 100 pounds or more overweight. The menu usually consisted of food such as beef liver, fish and alfalfa sprouts and the only form of exercise was running and doing sit-ups. The ultimate goal at these overnight summer camps is to lose as much weight as possible in as little time as possible. They were often considered special needs camps. There are also many teen and adult weight loss camps.

2 cups Japanese sushi rice
6 tbl. rice wine vinegar
6 sheets Nori (dry seaweed)
1 avocado - peeled, pitted and sliced
1 cucumber, peeled and sliced
8 ounces smoked salmon, cut into long strips
2 tbl. Wasabi paste
Procedures:
Soak rice for 4 hours. Drain rice and cook in a rice cooker with 2 cupsof water. Rice must be slightly dry as vinegar will be added later. Immediately after rice is cooked, mix in 6 tablespoons rice vinegar to the hot rice. Spread rice on a plate until completely cool.
Place 1 sheet of seaweed on bamboo mat, press a thin layer of cool rice on the seaweed. Leave at least 1/2 inch top and bottom edge of the seaweed uncovered. This is for easier sealing later. Dot some Wasabi on the rice. Arrange cucumber, avocado and smoked salmon to the rice.
Position them about 1 inch away from the bottom edge of the seaweed. Slightly wet the top edge of the seaweed. Roll from bottom to the top edge with the help of the bamboo mat tightly. Cut roll into 8 equal pieces and serve. Repeat for other rolls.

Fast food is quick and easy and, with all the new dollar menus, it can be an affordable option, too. But eating too much of the wrong kind of fast food can be unhealthy, with loads of saturated fat and extra calories. Healthy fast food does not mean you are restricted to salads alone. There are lots of other options that are just as tasty and filling.

The fast-paced city life style and abnormal working hours have given rise to life style diseases and disorders like high cardiac risk, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and the list goes on. Although many people are aware about the health benefits of a proper diet, nutrition and the power of food cooked in the microwave oven, very few actually follow the routine of cooking in a microwave oven. It is high time now that everybody should buy a microwave oven and start cooking food in it.

Jerky is normally made from beef but alternatives can include turkey, alligator, ostrich, moose, caribou, elk meat and venison. Fish too can be used, such as tuna or salmon. The smoking or salting preservative methods keep the nutritional value of the food and Beef Jerky recipes are popular with people who are traveling or camping, as they are slow to perish. Commercially produced jerky can be stored for up to a year and home made can be kept for one to two months. The dishes are most commonly found in the USA, Canada and Europe.

One of the best parts of reading anything about Iowa tourism is that Iowans love their food and more often than not incorporate that into the event. Take the Iowa State fair for example. The center of the fair revolves around the raising of food from the beef, pork and sheep to the tomatoes, beets, and turnips. And one of the things that the locals know very well – you can get more different foods on a stick here than anywhere else in the world. You can find all the normal things such as a deep fried corn dog, but you can get some exotic things as well such as a deep fried dill pickle on a stick. Two years ago one vender came up with the idea of selling a chili dog on a stick. He incorporated the chili into the breading surrounding the dog and deep fried the whole thing. Another vender was selling deep fried Snickers on a stick that went over quite well with the younger crowd. There was the all Iowa pork chop on a stick that was developed specifically to be marketed at the fair. Of course we can’t for get the meat balls on a stick. That was one of the few things that didn’t have to be deep fat fried!

Acid reflux in Babies - is it possible? Commmon? Let’s take a look.
Acid levels increase both in adults as well as babies. Adults can tell what they are feeling but incase of babies the parents have to take utmost care and keep a record of the babies’ health. Betty Crocker is an icon that many of us have grown up with through the years. Betty Crocker is synonymous with cookbooks and cake mixes. Of course, this is not all! The name Betty Crocker has historical significance as well. The name “Betty Crocker” was developed to market products to homemakers, and created from combining the last name of a retired company executive, William Crocker, and a pleasant, comfortable female name, Betty. According to an online source, General Mills became inundated with requests for recipes and baking suggestions, and to make the responses more personal, the company responded with letters using the signature of a secretary who won an office contest. Betty Crocker now seemed even more credible and personable. This was in 1921 and this same signature is still used today. In 1924 the first Betty Crocker School of the Air, the nation’s first cooking show aired on the radio. It was so popular that it continued for another 24 years. In 1936 an artist combined the features of the women who worked in the company’s home department in the official likeness of “Betty Crocker”, which has changed throughout the years to keep up with the times.

Some common food colorings and preservatives can increase hyperactivity in children, British researchers have found.
This link between has long been suspected, but, unbelievably,
this is the first study to show a direct connection. Many parents have
known this for years but till now nobody has listened.
The findings have already caused the British government’s Food
Standards Agency, which funded the study, to issue a warning to parents
about food additives. These warning may be difficult to put into
practice.

In our global society today, American culture is widespread and American food exported itself throughout the world. It would be grossly unfair however, to dismiss US cuisine as hamburgers and fries. Regional cooking in America is so much more than that.

Yipperdoodle, there are certain foods that cause heartburn. If you lower or cut out these foods, your heartburn should, logically lessen. If you have had frequent heartburn for over two weeks, you should see your doctor, even if you are firm in cutting these foods that cause heartburn from your diet. Heartburn has a tendency to get worse, not better, if left alone.
