The very best parts of any birthday celebration is choosing a birthday cake
. There are hundreds of different type of designs, and even more possibilities for pre-made cakes that you can choose from. As we get older and become less enthusiastic about blowing out the candles, we will still love to have a cake. There is something special about having a cake made just for us on that special occasion, and that usually only happens once a year.

If you read any book or magazine about osteoporosis
, I can bet all my money on the fact that it would advise you to take calcium tablets to keep your bones strong and healthy. After my own experience with in my family with this disease, I spent a long time researching about what can be done to avoid osteoporosis. I would say that, taking calcium to avoid this bone disease is the worst advice any person can receive.

The history of Chinese food
is an interesting one. Unlike many cultures the Chinese believe that the preparation of food is an art and not simply a craft. The art of cooking Chinese food can include dishes and food preparation techniques which are difficult to develop and may require the expertise of a chef with lots of experience. One such technique is noodle pulling. Noodle pulling requires skill and lots of practice and results in a delicious noodle dish.

A novel approach to weight loss is a device called calorie shifting
. The object of this technique is to prevent your body’s metabolism from slowing down. The natural course of events is for your metabolism to slow as you diet and begin eating less and less. This is because the human body is meant to hold some fat in storage for future use. When the body senses that it is at risk of starvation, it slows the metabolism to prevent the loss of too much of the fat stores.

Seafood risotto
is usually made with the seafood cooked right into the risotto. Although this makes a wonderful dish, I find that the seafood can easily become overcooked and get lost in the risotto, or that some diners can get lots of seafood while others get cheated. I find that flavoring the risotto with a seafood broth and then topping it with sautéed seafood is an unbeatable combination.

You really don’t need a recipe to cook good beef tenderloin
–just follow your instincts, using your favorite preparation method as for any other kind of beef. One of the simplest ways is to rub it with seasonings such as garlic powder, salt and black pepper (the last being coarsely ground, preferably). Put the beef and a tablespoon of cooking oil in a pan on your stove top, browning the meat all over. Then put it in the oven and roast it for about half an hour at 460 degrees F or hotter, making sure to turn it occasionally.

There are many methods used to cook a moist and tasty roasted turkey
. Most methods rely on basting. The turkey can be basted every 30 minutes with a basting bulb, or covered with cheesecloth soaked in butter. Other methods include brining the turkey (soaking in a salt water solution for 8-10 hours), or injecting a basting solution into the meat. Whatever method you prefer, proper roasting is key to tender moist meat.

Never skimp on quality when you’re buying meat. Go to the very best butcher shop you can afford for a prime rib roast. You will be charged by the pound for your roast, and you want to be cooking a roast that has at least three ribs attached. If you’re cooking for a small family of two or three people, you’re going to have some prime rib left over, so plan ahead on how you will use it up. Better yet, invite someone over for dinner and treat them to a lovely meal of home cooked prime rib

Many health products use extracts of green tea
in their formulation; although primarily known for the benefits it provides as an antioxidant, it has many other positive health properties. People requiring a natural product to burn calories will not find anything to compare with green tea weight loss supplements. It has a wide range of benefits for the human metabolism but first and foremost, it has great anti-aging properties, accelerating cell regeneration and slowing the oxidation process in the system. With weight loss however, both the laxative effects and anti-oxidant abilities are used to help improve the metabolism.

There are some things that I did not learn to love (or even try for that matter) until I was an adult. I never had crab legs until a few years ago, and now they are one of my favorite foods. The same can be said for bacon wrapped scallops. More …..

It is possible for people to make health food choices if they only have a short time in which to prepare their meals. The first thing to realize is that it is often the case that healthy choices do not always mean a need for two-hour meals. A person can choose healthy foods that are quick and easy to prepare at home or to pickup from a takeout place. Cities often provide restaurant guides in their telephone books that display full-page menus indicating what a particular restaurant or drive-thru offers. Many of these food vendors now include healthy alternatives to their usual fast-food selection.

The Food Guide Pyramid was created more than ten years ago by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The Pyramid illustrated what the USDA said were the elements of a healthy diet. The Pyramid was taught in schools, appeared in the media and brochures, on cereal boxes and food labels. It seemed like the absolute final word on what we should really eat.
The Food Guide Pyramid is now like a fairytale. It did not point the way toward healthy eating. We are told now the Food Guide Pyramid was based on shaky scientific evidence. It still has not changed over the years to reflect major advances in our understanding of the connection between diet and good health.
