Why not try… Walking for Exercise?

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

I preferred walking for exercise because it was a great way to get myself some alone time. Yes, the workout equipment in my basement yields some great results but I just don’t feel the same as I do after taking a brisk walk outside. I realize that not everybody can select walking for exercise when they are looking for something to do. If you live in a bad area, or in the pinnacle of a high rise building in the heart of the city, it might be harder for you to walk outside. For me walking for exercise is so much easier when have great surroundings or a fascinating discussion from a friend who walks along with you. Some of my friends have taken on the habit of going on brisk walks with me. They chose walking for exercise because I constantly talked about the benefits of the activity. You may feel a little sore after the first few times out but you will find yourself whipping into shape in no time.

Music goes hand in hand with getting up and active. Try using iPod or other MP3 player to add entertainment to the walk. Books on tape makes the walk goes by faster and you want to walk longer. You should choose cheerful songs that will help you keep your rate up. A mellow song at the beginning and the end of the work-out will help ensure that you get a warm-up and a cool down in. When you are able to get, and stay on your target heart rate you will want to cool down a bit at the end of your walk. Slowing your pace down and doing some more light stretching can accomplish this. Do not stop walking to slow your heart rate in to a cool down. It defeats the purpose of a cool down.

Apple Cider Vinegar Each Day Keeps the Doctor Away!

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

acid reflux? Nausea or other stomach ailments? Apple Cider Vinegar! Your stomach needs the acid to digest food. And in fact, when you experience heartburn or acid reflux, it’s not excess acid that’s the problem; it’s a lack of acid. By taking Apple Cider Vinegar, you are mimicking the PH level of acid in your stomach, which helps you digest the food properly rather than suppressing the acid and temporarily treating the burn. Acid reflux and nausea can be instantly stopped with a quick swig of Apple Cider Vinegar, commonly called ACV. The most important thing about ACV is getting the right kind. Don’t just grab it off the shelf at the grocery store, because that ACV has been treated and pasteurized and is missing the most powerful part. The best ACV is natural vinegar from the health food store, which still contains the “mother”. Either method can be combined with honey if preferred. For a hot drink which will mix the honey even better, use hot water, honey and a teaspoon or so of ACV, and sip it like a tea or hot cider.

Improve Your Barbecue Ribs

Monday, December 24th, 2007

When I was growing up, the backyard barbecue was the hit of the summer. My dad would make the most delicious barbeque ribs I had ever tasted. In general, my dad was a pretty light-hearted joke-a-minute kind of guy. When he was working the backyard grill, however, he became someone quite different. Suddenly, he was all business. You could talk to him, but if you broke his concentration on the barbecue grill, he would start to tune you out. Getting the meat to just the perfect temperature was his only priority.

I always thought that his barbeque ribs were the most delicious food in the world. They were sweet, smoky, and slightly crunchy on the outside. We would never go out for barbecue ribs when I was a kid, and looking back, it was just as well. As a kid, i never had to find out that my dad made barbeque ribs that were about average at best. .

When I first got to taste slow cooker country style ribs, I thought that I had died and gone to heaven. My dad’s barbeque ribs were all but forgotten the moment my teeth sunk into that moist, succulent meat. I had never heard of a slow cooker ribs recipe before. My dad was strictly a grill kind of guy. Although he used a barbeque ribs spice rub, he might as well have left it off because the flavor barely got into the ribs.

With slow cooked ribs, however, the spices penetrated the meat perfectly. I can’t even explain how good it was! I had heard people talking about the meat “falling off the bone” before, but I had never really realized that they meant it literally. After being smoked for hours and hours, the rib meat is so tender that it dissolve right in your mouth. It was so good, in fact, that I did not even use barbecue sauce. The ribs did not even need it!

What I didn’t know back then was that there was more too those barbeque ribs than using a slow cooker. The actual quality of the rib meat itself makes a big difference. My dad bought his pork ribs at the Safeway, but these ones were from a local, organic farm. You really could taste the difference! You wouldn’t think that it would matter after hours of cooking, but it really did!

BBQ Accessories and More

Monday, December 24th, 2007

Your backyard barbeque is a real retreat that you look forward to using every week. Some use this outdoor cooking retreat daily. The right bbq accessories can make your backyard cooking time easier and all the more fun. These items come in many different forms and you could easily stock up on barbeque accessories for you space.

There are three bbq accessories that really stand out. They go above and beyond the typical gear that you would come across in a grilling kit. Many outdoor chefs like the idea of having their tools in one kit with some bbq accessories on the side. This approach saves room and helps to keep things organized.

One of the most important grill tools that you can find is the grill grate handle. One of these innovative bbq accessories is the Grill Grabber. Anyone who has used an outdoor cooking space knows how difficult it can be to lift and carry the grill grate from place to place. The Grill Grabber is a useful tool that makes the whole grilling process easier.

The traditional basting brush is among the bbq accessories that typically come with your grilling kit. These brushes are just the right size for getting sauce into the crevices in the meat that you are grilling. Some cooks like to have a few of these on hand and since they are so inexpensive, why not?

The basting mop is a variation of the brush that really stands out as a winner. I don’t know about you but I prefer to have an item that is very easy to clean and one that stands the test of time. The basting mop is among the bbq accessories that offers great uses as well as easy clean up in the process. This item is great because it doesn’t brush the sauce off as it is baked into the meat.

Tools aside, there are other bbq accessories that can make your outdoor grilling meals taste great. One of these barbeque equipment products is the wooden plank. Cooking on planks is an ancient approach to preparing food that has been gaining popularity among certain cooking circles.

Plank cooking is ideal for salmon, steaks and vegetables because it adds amazing flavor to the food. This bbq accessory requires a little bit of prep work and some seasoning but the outcome is worth the extra effort. This is a must for anyone who wants to make the backyard barbeque a gourmet chef’s outdoor dream.

Bbq accessories don’t have to consist of the same old stuff that you would expect. There are plenty of unique cooking tools for the grill to consider.

Why… and How to Quit the Smoking Habit

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Okay, so let’s say that the main reason people who want to stop smoking is they have yet to find the way that works for them. Or, they have yet to find a way to replace whatever it is smoking gives them in the way of pleasure, stress reduction (though smoking stresses the body out completely) or satisfaction in some way. Let’s look at some of the ways people do stop and there are more ways to stop smoking than you may have thought.

There is acupuncture, meditation, hypnosis, over the counter drugs, prescribed drugs by a physician, nicotine replacements like nicotine gum, nicotine patches, nicotine lillipops (can you imagine?), lozenges and pouches that contain nicotine, herbal supplements and the old fashioned cold turkey method. There are more but one has to wonder if the market to stop smoking makes so much money that maybe not only do the tobacco companies want you to smoke, so do the manufacturers of stop smoking products. Did you know a person tries to quit an average of 11 times before successful? That’s a lot of repeat customers for stop smoking products. Meanwhile the tobacco companies are selling cigarettes to people who try to quit but don’t.

Reduce Stress with Meditation

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Indeed I don’t want that kind. One breakdown was uneasy enough for me. I tried Reduce Stress meditation CDs. Primarily, I don’t even get myself to acquire it sincerely. I put on stress reduction CDs, heard the relaxing tone and the chimes, and split into laughter. Behind that, I realized that I was just wasting my time. And come into my mind if I had to acquire the stress reduction meditation sincerely or I should give it up altogether. And I preferred to give it up.

In a week I did stress reduction meditation every morning. Everyday my meditation worked wonders. After one week, I felt much at ease. I could relax and take it easy without worrying. I did not need to always be panic around. It successfully changed my life!

Some tips about atkins low carb recipes

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

One of the key things to remember about the Atkins diet is its focus on raw, unprocessed foods. The center of diet, as shown by the Atkins diet food pyramid, is fresh vegetables and fresh meats.

Raw, fresh food ingredients provide the best basis for a healthy diet. Many dieters rely on foods that are technically allowed on the plan, but not good for health. One example is bacon. Many people on the Atkins diet consume lots of bacon.

The Atkins pyramid, and the Atkins diet books, recommends unprocessed, unrefined and non-manufactured foods for a reason. If people follow these recommendations, they will lose weight and experience health transformations.

Natural Cure For Asthma

Monday, December 17th, 2007

There are many natural cures for asthma. Of course, since the FDA does not endorse these, it may take some time for patients to accept it. The point is, that you do have choices if you are willing to try them. There is acupuncture, which uses needles to stimulate chemical reactions within the body to correct the existing imbalances. Many people reported that acupuncture is extremely beneficial. One should be very careful however regarding the sterilization of the needles. An option could be to carry your own set with you, which can be thrown away after each session.

Another supposedly effective natural cure for asthma is yoga. Yoga is an ancient science originating from India, whereby one does some particular exercises (the positions of which are called asanas) by which the problems inside the body and mind can be cured. Some people find it highly effective, while the peculiar positions that the yoga dictates horrify some people. It depends upon you if you would like to choose this type of any other natural cure for asthma.
