Nutritious Raw Sweet Potatoes

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Raw sweet potatoes are rich in vitamins, minerals and iron.

They can be found in your local grocery store, quite often next to the white potatoes. Sweet potatoes can be baked or steamed, just like baked white potato or made into a sweet potato pie(tastes like pumpkin pie).

I  like to have baked sweet potato next to pieces of meat, like turkey or chicken, just makes the meal so delicious.

Walking For Exercise

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

The first step in losing weight may not be starting another fad diet. It maybe walking without changing a thing you eat. With Dieting the focus is to often on the input inside and people worry about calories. They forget about the other side of that equation calorie out. Walking helps you shift your attitude toward health, fitness, and weight loss. Change doesn’t happen overnight, nor did gaining those extra pounds. Just get out there and walk for a while. Build a daily habit and let’s call it being active. How far you walk or how fast you walk isn’t important. It’s simply walking in short spurts most days of the week. Be careful, once you start paying attention to walking, you want to walk farther.

Menu Planning

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Our kids were coming home for between 4 days and a 3 weeks, depending on which family.  With the additional people we decided that the logical thing to do was to plan a menu for the whole time they were going to be here.  It actually works well.  It helps with the grocery shopping, the time management and balanced meals.

Not that we followed it the whole time, there were a couple of meals eaten out which were not taken into consideration at menu planning time, but over all it worked well.

It isn’t as difficult as it sounds, just print off a calendar from the computer that has the squares marked for each day, then sit down, think about what it is that you like to cook and what your guests like to eat and start writing the items into the squares.  Then, off to the grocery store to buy the items.  Some you are able to make ahead of time and freeze, others you will have the things you need to make on hand.  It’s as simple as that.

The key to budget control and dietary needs can be met with just a little advance planning.  Sure works for us.

Pizza Prep Table In Your Kitchen

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

My initial impression of the product is etched in my mind quite deeply because I kept thinking, “Wow, this thing would be great at home. Too bad it’s so ugly. There is nothing attractive about the traditional pizza prep table as far as I’m concerned but the item is really efficient and helpful, especially if you do a lot of preparation for your meals. Since my training in the restaurant has made me into the gourmet cook that I am today, I do have to admit that I did love the idea of owning a pizza prep table in my own home.

Cooking Gourmet – Lobster Sauce Recipe

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

While we were eating one of the couples said that they had seen the lobster sauce prepared on the cooking show. We started talking about the cooking channel and found out that all of us watched it from time to time. We talked about different recipes and entertaining ideas that we thought were interesting that we had seen on the various shows. We spent so much time enjoying the dinner and talking about cooking that we did not have time to play any of the board games. We decided that since we all enjoy cooking we would start a gourmet group.

Chicken Recipes

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

The first person to look to when you are trying to find new chicken recipes is your mother. Every mother – or father, if he was the one who cooked in your family – has at least one chicken recipe that she cherishes above all else. For my mom, it was her chicken curry recipe. It was absolutely delicious. It had chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, tons of turmeric, and of course a spicy curry sauce. She taught it to me when I went off to college, and I’ve been cooking it ever since. It is a mainstay of my diet.

Fine Dining – Experiencing Upscale Restaurants

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

I won’t give up getting really great food in upscale restaurants because of these people, but they do limit when I will go. There is my husband to contend with as well. He is much like me. He loves the food, but he always feels uncomfortable there. I think it is because of the dress code, and for a construction worker, I can see where that would be a problem. When he does dress up, he looks great.

American Food

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Any visitor to Maine wants to try the lobster there and Maryland restaurants serve up a tasty crab. Traditions have been taken and adapted to US tastes and recipes have been invented on American soil but which reflect the cuisine of other countries. Even the hot dog and hamburger, so associated with the USA, has its origins in Germany. Southern cuisine is distinctive from the rest of the country with its Creole, Cajun and soul food dishes. There are regional differences within the South too with Louisiana being noted for its French influences and its hot sauces. Texas is known for its barbecue sauces and Oklahoma for its bean based dishes. North and South Carolina use rice a lot in their food. A typical Southern breakfast would consist of bacon, grits and pancakes and any trip to the South would bring the smell of fried chicken.

Pumpkin Seeds Are A Nutritious Snack For Any Social Occasion

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

You can include pumpkin seeds as a nutritious snack for any social occasion. Rather than supplying the usual potato chips and candy, both laden with loads of calories and fat, the pumpkin seeds are a low calorie alternative.

All you need to do, go to the local grocery store and buy some pumpkin seeds. I would look for the ones that don’t have too much salt on them and consume them within a week or two.

Now you know what you need to add on the savory table, next to the usual savouries. You need to include a plate of nutritious pumpkin seeds.

Your Health, Weight Loss, and what to do about it.

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Mostly of doctors do not follow health care articles, but in my opinion it is one of the most important things that a medical professional should do. I believed that health care system in our world is a mess. Heath care is one of the largest industries in this world. After all, medical technology changes particularly rapidly, and each new development could potentially mean life and death for a patient that you will have one day. There is a lot of great helpful information on the internet but it has never been assembled in a way that’s compelling and useful for consumers who want to take control of their family’s help. If you haven’t gone reading every health care article significant to your field of expertise – and a good number of ones those are not directly related to your specialty – you may miss out on a crucial new development.
