According to some studies, the English tea was introduced to England through the effort of the London coffee houses. One of the remarkable English to offer English tea was Thomas Garway, a coffee house merchant who owned as establishment in Exchange Alley. And it is considerable to note that Thomas Garway sold both liquid and dry English tea to the public as early as 1657.

Everyone is very busy these days and it’s tempting to pop a ready meal into the microwave at the end of a tiring day. Parents are not passing on cooking skills to the next generation and cookery is getting squeezed out of the school curriculum. Consequently, the growing generation don’t know one end of a broccoli from another.
Something has to be done, and it’s an international problem. As the developing economies in Asia grow, more women are going out to work and their traditional shopping and cooking habits are changing. Many are going to supermarkets instead of to their local market stalls. It’s already been reported that Japanese children are becoming overweight. In Western Europe, food trends are changing too. We all think of French and Italian families enjoying a leisurely meal cooked with fresh, local produce. They still do, but there are growing food trends toward processed food and ready meals, as people try to fit in work commitments with life at home.

My date and I had a wonderful time at the mystery dinner theater performance that we went to. The actors were excellent, the food was delicious, and the story was intriguing. We really liked the way the audience was able to get involved and participate in the show. That was far better than just sitting back and watching the action unfold around us. We were both sold on the whole mystery dinner theater concept and can’t wait to go again!

Some world cuisines include raw meat and raw fish. Raw meat, otherwise known as stake tartare, is a delicious dish and great adventure for meat lovers. It is a very popular dish in French brasseries and bistros, however, has to be ordered only in restaurants with good reputation and specialized on meat. If you want to try it at home, it is quite easy to prepare, however you should use only good quality beef, preferably natural or organic, and only filet mignon or top sirloin freshly ground. Don’t use any other grade of beef.

My salad recipes were easy to make and two of my favorite recipes had huge success. I like to mix things which normally people don’t think putting together in salad recipes, like spinach and strawberries with spicy poppy seeds dressing. Or three different types of peppers mixed with three types of cheese and mushrooms, or everybody’s favorite apple pickle salad with sunflower seeds.

What is with all the diets? How can any of us laymen tell which ones are worth our time and money? Yeah, I did say money. In reality some of these new-age diets can get a bit pricey. A big one amongst men and some women is the proteen power diet. This is the one that requires far more protein than you’ve ever dreamed of consuming in a day’s time. On the up-side, there are plenty of ways to acquire all this protein goodness. From shakes, to packets of lean tuna, to broiled fish, to infinite snack bars. All of these are great sources of protein. Oh, and let’s not forget the lean poultry. This is often a favorite. Now, the big question is; why do you need this type of diet regimen? This and many other interesting articles at www.slim.info

I was given the opportunity to try Tim Hortons coffee when I took a vacation in the Great White North about a month ago. You probably know that this franchise is pretty much a Canadian institution. Finding an adult in Canada who had never had Tim Hortons coffee before is the same as finding an adult who had never tried a McDonald’s hamburger in the U.S. Anyway, I could see why all my Canadian friends raved about the place because I thoroughly enjoyed the brew at that chain. In the course of my two week stay in Canada, I became completely addicted to the stuff.

My husband claims to love my cooking. Im not sure what is wrong with him, but he does. He especially loves when I make Italian dishes, though we both know that I dont really know anything about true Italian cooking. My sauce secret is not really a secret at all.
If anything, my secret is how to get the jar open when it seems to be sealed too tightly. I do make a good lasagna, and spaghetti is always a hit here, but it isnt true Italian cooking, and we all know it. All the same, what matters is that we love it and it works well for us.

My mother was wonderful at creating traditions. We had many within our family, some that were repeated every week and others that were practiced around holidays and birthdays. Every Saturday evening we would have the same dinner. Mom would make Swiss steak, baked potatoes and tossed salads.
We were allowed to eat in the living room on TV trays and watch television. Every Saturday morning was cleaning time. Everyone had their assigned chores. When your chores were done you had free time until dinner. Moms traditions around birthdays included picking your favorite meal as well as your birthday cake.

This was the only three times a year that mom would make the gelatin salad or sweet potatoes. About fifteen years ago turkey became more readily available in many different cuts. Instead of only having whole turkeys you get purchase ground turkey, drumsticks, as well as turkey breasts.
Today you can buy turkey bacon, sausage and marinated pieces. Turkey has become a common ingredient rather than a meat that is reserved only for special occasions. I was an adult before I knew that you could purchase raw sweet potatoes.

Turmeric root, the predominant ingredient used in Indian curry dishes, which produces the signature yellow orange color is one herbal remedy for arthritis which many people find of significant help. Turmeric has demonstrated anti-inflammatory abilities which are as effective as cortisone! Most conveniently taken in capsule form, try about 500 mg three times a day. Certain medical conditions may preclude its use, so be sure to clear this with your physician. Some herbalists recommend the use of bromelain, extracted from pineapple and available in tablets, to be used along with turmeric as an herbal remedy for arthritis. Bromelain also has anti-inflammatory properties.

When your metabolism slows you have a great deal of trouble processing the extra alcohol out of your body. As your system winds down so does your ability to metabolize the toxins. Staying awake for a bit before crashing is a great hangover prevention strategy that takes little effort. While you are awake for the extra time you have a moment to drink some water. This is one of the most valuable hangover prevention strategies that I know. I even like to alternate between alcoholic beverages and water throughout the night. The fluids keep me from getting dehydrated.

I acquired what my girlfriend calls my “culinary death collection one hot pepper plant at a time. Once I saw how easy it was to grow habanero plants, I wanted to get a jalapeño plant as well. I saved my hot pepper seeds, using the best ones to grow new plants and the other ones to cook with. Soon I was using hot pepper plants in everything. I would use them in chile, Mexican food, Indian food, and in cuisines where they had no business at all.

Pure Kona coffee has a unique body, complex flavor, lightly acidic, with a rich, delicious and spicy aroma not found elsewhere in the coffee world.
Coffee came to the Kona region of Hawaii from Brazil, in the form of cuttings. Although these cuttings took many years to develop into a large and consistent enough crop, by the mid-1800’s, Kona coffee was a commercially grown crop, with many large plantations in the Kona district.
In 1899, a crash in the coffee market around the world left the Kona plantation owners no option but to lease small portions of their plantations to individual farmers, who then farmed five to twelve acre parcels of Kona coffee trees as family businesses. These small coffee producers were diligent and conscientious in their efforts, bringing a high quality coffee bean to market.

The coffee plant originated in Africa’s tropical forests. Some say the first coffee drinker was an Ethiopian goat herder, who upon noticing his herds’ frisky behavior following consumption of the coffee berries, decided to try some for himself. The rest is history.
Although there are about 25 species of the genus Coffea, only two are grown commercially and destined for our coffee cups. These two are the Arabica and Robusta coffee plants. Of the other species, some are available as indoor plants, more as a conversation piece than anything else.
