White Zinfandel For A Quiet Evening

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

White zinfandel is a favorite wine for many people because of its fruity nature and general appeal. The wine is referred to as “white and many people think that this is a mistake because of its pink hue. However, this is the correct term for the product. It is not actually a blush because the process of making the final product is different in a white zinfandel than in a blush wine.

Fresh Whole Bean Coffee

Friday, September 29th, 2006

The problem with whole bean coffee is that you have to grind it. That means you have to purchase a coffee grinder. Coffee grinders can be a pain in the ass when you have to clean them. Another agonizing step you have to take before enjoying your cup of coffee. If the flavor isn’t really that important to you as it is to me, and/or you are lacking in time or patience, whole bean coffee probably won’t appeal to you that much. Most coffee drinkers I know don’t even own a coffee grinder.

A Guide to Weight Loss Methods

Friday, September 29th, 2006

When it comes to solutions, probably one of the most sought after things in this day and age are weight loss solutions. Is your weight where you want it to be? If you ask most individuals this question, they will tell you no. I should know, I did a survey on this not too long ago. And I questioned college students regarding diet and weight loss. Imagine how folks in their 30s, 40s, and 50s would respond. My guess is they would answer with a resounding NOPE. It mainly comes down to how we live and what we choose to consume.

We all think of French and Italian families enjoying a leisurely meal cooked with fresh, local produce. They still do, but there are growing food trends toward processed food and ready meals, as people try to fit in work commitments with life at home. Cooks in schools are being re-trained and the meals budget is being raised. Out with the French fries and in with vegetables.

Ethiopian Coffee

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

African dishes are very often accompanied by alcoholic drinks, except for the Muslim North. South Africa of course, is world famous for its first class red and white wines. Kenya has a local beer called Tusker which is exported. There are many bee keepers in Ethiopia and they make a drink called Tej from the honey which is similar in taste to mead. Ethiopian coffee is also well known in the West. The Tusker goes particularly well with African food.

Formal Dinners

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

When I returned to my home I told my husband about the conversation I had with my parents. We decided that it would be fun to invite them for a formal dinner. I sent them an invitation and also one to my aunt and uncle that were often guests at mom’s Sunday dinners. I made an old fashioned beef roast dinner and set the table with china, crystal and taper candles. Mom and Dad and my aunt and uncle enjoyed our Sunday together. We did more reminiscing and also talked about what different family members are doing now. At the end of the evening my husband and I decided that we will continue to invite company over for formal Sunday dinners at least once a month.

Taste And Texture Of Unprocessed Food

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

If improving your diet is a priority, the first step is to learn how to read food labels. Often products labelled as “health food contain little or no elements necessary for health. Hydrogenated fats and oils, sugars and a host of chemical additives such as nitrates must now be placed on labels, and it is advisable to check these before purchasing any item that claims to be health food. With a little research, it is easy to find which products offer a more honest itemizing of ingredients that will benefit you. Finding the right combination of foods to eat may take time, but in the long-term you will benefit in the prevention of disease and illness. Not all health food is alike, and wise consumers should check labels thoroughly and buy food as fresh as possible. Slowly introducing more health food into the diet will allow you to make small changes at first, allowing your body to adjust to the taste and texture of unprocessed food. Over time, you will soon find that your tastes will change, for the better - and that fast food will not taste as good as it once did.
